I spoke to the lovely Angela this morning at the CRFU and because there was a delay with some clubs entering teams in the Classics Division, the draw was unable to be completed for this weekend.
So, to the delight of some and the chargrin of others, there will be no rugby for us this weekend, Saturday 4th April 2009. Our first game will commence Saturday 18th April 2009 (Easter weekend there are no lower grade games played).
Training, of course is still on at South Hagley at 6-00pm and if there are any queries, please contact Phil.

I have a dream, that one day, all Division Six teams will be equal, that New Boys and Old Coves alike will be judged, not on the colour of their jersey, but by the content of their ball handling skills.

On the hard dry grounds of Bob Deans Fields, the Keiths and the Linwood Bollocks started their 2009 rugby endeavours with a pre-season friendly game. And as usual, 3 seconds into it, the Bollocks scored. But Bravo had lost none of his speed and skills to bring it right back to them.

The game was a classic start to Classics rugby. Even on both sides, with touches of brilliance and shards of mistakes. Luckily the important part of drinking free beer went down as usual with...

... skill and speed and thanks to Phil for doing the organising and to Luke and Tom from the club for their part as well.

A gaggle of New Boys brought the numbers up to the required 15 which bade me ask the question, where the fuck was everyone else? Mostly in Hong Kong it turned out, but still. Someone had to moan, and if not me, then who else?

Right then lads. You all know what this means. Another 6 months of listening to old men pretending to be funny during the speechs at the clubrooms on a Saturday night. Also known as the start of the rugby season.

Phil's done another good job of getting the Linwood Bollocks together for a pre-season clash, and this time it's on our patch. This Saturday, 28th March 2009 at Bob Deans Fields.

All players must be there by 1-00pm for instruction by the referee on the new ELV's. Repeat, All players must be there by 1-00pm for instruction by the referee on the new ELV's. This is important.

Kick off is then at 2-00pm for those only interested in watching. It'll be the usual 3 x 20 minutes periods of play with a few beers afterwards.
Let's get it on!!

Toad has done a great job or organising the annual Married vs Singles Cricket Match, and announces that this year it is being held Sunday 1st March at 11-00am. Usual location of CBHS, Straven Road.
The Annual cricket match is a good way for the boys to ease into the season and since stuff-all of you were down there for practise yesterday, it would be nice to see everyone there.
BBQ & keg will be there of course. Cost will be $20 per head approx...

All open grade club competitions would start on Saturday 4th April and social grades would take Easter weekend (the second Saturday of competitions 10th April) off.

Division One, Division Two and Colts being the only grades playing at Easter weekend. Finals dates may depend on team entry numbers but it is intended to play to the end of August.

The Division One competition will be played each Saturday and, at present, is programmed to conclude on 15 August, two Saturdays after the revised Air NZ Cup competition begins.
