SATURDAY IS RUGBY DAY!!! ARRRGGGGHH SMASH CRASH TINKLE. OH. FUCK IT, FREEDOM!!!!!!!!

Thankfully, schoolboy rugby in the morning churned up the field into a boggy muddy mess which is, as we all know, the best possible conditions to play rugby in.

Once again, we had the services of Division 2 guys to shore up some blank spaces which is great and we thank them for it. But there was a bit of discussion after the game while drinking a few fantas that maybe it would be best if we had a more solid and consistent weekly 15 instead of the uncertain starting lineup. But that's up to you guys to decide. Training's on Thursday and game day is Saturday. But no matter how much of your own life gets in the way of rugby, a quick phone call, or text message to the coach saying you can't be there would be good. End of passive/aggressive rant.

As usual, Poacher and Chief panicked about who to put where and were worried right up to game time. Un-necessarily so as we went out on to the field with gusto and claggy mud encased boots ready to take it to Shirley.
Shirley, however, took it to us instead. We in a nutshell, tried to get to the ball and the breakdowns before the opposition did but never quite managed it. That's obviously a simplification of the game, but it's going to have to be a training issue if we want to improve our scoreline in the future.
Highlights of individual players included all our front rowers who pushed Shirley around like the girl's name they were. Paddy who jumped in the lineout and ran his heart out (and who deservedly got MVP), Sam who seemed to be out of position for much of the game, but ended up always right where a tackler needed to be, Paul whos kicks proved to be dependently accurate despite the mud and both Nick and Cormac on the wings who proved, despite their pasty white legs, could run and catch and kick all at the same time.

Most can be happy with the manner of how the game went, even if the scoreline reflected otherwise, but all can be happy with the beer back in the Keith Pavillion afterwards.
