"They're not listening to me! Stop fighting you boys right now! I mean it. Ok. You asked for it. I'm going home right now or else." Jesus ref, grow some cahones.
This was a game we really didn't want to lose. Not just for the competition points on offer and the placing for the second round, but simply because it's Burnside. Who at times have been mistaken for Shirley (Wankers). But this season they seem to have grown older and wiser and just want to play

some footy. Isn't that what the Classics grade is all about?
Anyways, we started with a hiss and a roar, but finished rather slower. Our defense was good (mostly) and our attack was good (mostly) and the sideline support was good (mostly) and the beers were cold afterwards. Mostly.
Blah blah blah everyone played well and we all love each other and we didn't miss Muncher at all (Pies paid me to say that). But seriously folks, a top effort with, as in a team game, no outstanding individual ummm standing out.

FOR SAFETYS SAKE, I DECLARE THIS WEATHER TOO COLD TO PLAY IN

Fuck it was cold. And I mean really cold. So cold Poodle didn't want to come out of the changing shed. Linwood, however, were prepared to bring the game to us, and the kicking duel that ensued made for lots of keeping warm by running backwards and forwards.
Basically the weather made it impossible to play our usual expansive game, as Webby will attest to when he came off the paddock with no feeling in his hands at all. Chilli managed to avoid the cold

(he is from Southland) and get the trifecta on the scoreboard, but the usual performers such as Wardy and Scotty and Bravo only managed a lacklustre performance to match the mood of the day.
Still, with only two losses (both by 3 points) and two draws (including today), the wins we've had up to this point have been stellar performances and the entire team should be proud to have been involved in them.

Ha ha ha ha ha ha. He said Wankers. Giggles like a loon.
Confidence can bring disaster if there's an over abundance of it. Luckily we had just the required amount of confidence that the Wankers had definately shot their load two seasons ago. They had no answer to our powerfully powerful scrums, no answer to our jumping up into the air lineout catching ability, no answer to our teflon coated slippery backs and no answer to the 57 to nil drubbing. Except to say we'll

try again next round. Well, we'll be ready for them.
Clubrooms were full considering so many were at the Super 14 final. Full of Old Coves and old faces. Was a delight to share our victory dance with everybody.
Training is back on this Thursday at South Hagley for next weeks game against the Bollocks. So make sure you're sufficiently hardened up.

Stroudy and Malcolm once again welcomed the boys to Canterbury Brewery, where there was a good turn out from New Boys and Old Coves alike. Even Chops and Fletch managed a leave pass from the wife.
Matty tried to show us all a few coin tricks, but ended up singing a song instead of which Stroudy and the old folks who were visiting from wherever the hell they were from thought was quite amusing, if a little bit risque.
Hinge decided to induce vomitus but decided to

keep it a secret. :Luckily it was spotted before it started to smell, or eat into the lino. A good time, I think, was had by all.

I think finally the CRFU have got it right with like minded and like skilled teams in a propper competition from the start of the season. We seem to have gotten competition to push us and make us play to our abilities. After the hard fought slog last week, all the lessons were put into practice against a team who weren't quite up to standard for the type of game we played.
Was lovely to watch the return of some Old Coves and New Boys getting

in there and the atmosphere for once at the clubrooms was boisterous instead of a bit limp and flat.
Watch a video of Howie storming with the ball. youtube it.

Training this week is at the Brewery so be prepared for a big one.
