MARK GILMOUR, MARK GILMOUR. COME IN, YOUR TIME IS UP

an e-mail from Former Keith now living in Australia.

Hi Guys

Back in about 1982 I played for the Keith's for a couple of seasons, I only remember a couple of guys, they would be Charlie Sumner and Mark Shaw, I am sure I would remember more with a bit of help.

I don't know if anyone has told you about the trip we did to Westport, or was it Greymouth where a few of the boys got out of control and managed to damage and stop the town clock, the Police turned up at our motel rooms the next morning and grilled us, with no success.

I think we drink the bus dry on the way and on the way home, it was wild.

There was your standard contest, cocks on the billiard table, longest took the money.

If I remember that year we played a team from Canada and the USA and bet them both.

Have you guys had any contact with Charlie or Mark?

I would like to see a better photo of the old photos; maybe I could pick myself out.

I would like to join the membership, they were great days.

Regards
mike gilmour

Hi All

It is with great sadness that i must resign as coach of Keith Rugby this year.
A recent promotion in my job requires me to be away severeal weekends and training nights this year. I feel that i will not be able to provide the time that is required for this position.
I do hope to play some weekends and attend some trainings.

Go Keith

I spoke to the lovely Angela this morning at the CRFU and because there was a delay with some clubs entering teams in the Classics Division, the draw was unable to be completed for this weekend.
So, to the delight of some and the chargrin of others, there will be no rugby for us this weekend, Saturday 4th April 2009. Our first game will commence Saturday 18th April 2009 (Easter weekend there are no lower grade games played).
Training, of course is still on at South Hagley at 6-00pm and if there are any queries, please contact Phil.

HARD GROUNDS, HARD BALLS, HARD RUGBY, HARD DRINKING

I have a dream, that one day, all Division Six teams will be equal, that New Boys and Old Coves alike will be judged, not on the colour of their jersey, but by the content of their ball handling skills.

On the hard dry grounds of Bob Deans Fields, the Keiths and the Linwood Bollocks started their 2009 rugby endeavours with a pre-season friendly game. And as usual, 3 seconds into it, the Bollocks scored. But Bravo had lost none of his speed and skills to bring it right back to them.

The game was a classic start to Classics rugby. Even on both sides, with touches of brilliance and shards of mistakes. Luckily the important part of drinking free beer went down as usual with...

... skill and speed and thanks to Phil for doing the organising and to Luke and Tom from the club for their part as well.

A gaggle of New Boys brought the numbers up to the required 15 which bade me ask the question, where the fuck was everyone else? Mostly in Hong Kong it turned out, but still. Someone had to moan, and if not me, then who else?
